Why is the museum moving?
Location: SCM’s new location on the SW corner of Hwy 370 & 90th St. is more centrally located and highly visible making it more accessible to all of Sarpy County.
The current museum building is already bursting at the seams. More space is needed to maintain the current collection as well as add the Wimmer Railroad Collection.
Wimmer Railroad Collection: An awe-inspiring private railroad collection has been gifted to the Sarpy County Museum. Over Bill Wimmer’s 50-year career in the railroad industry, he collected railroad memorabilia and artifacts which developed into an extensive railroad collection of more than 10,000 items. It is currently displayed in a separate 5,000 square-foot facility 30 miles south of the museum.
