The Way We Worked Smithsonian Traveling exhibit has come and gone at the museum. I hope you were able to view the exhibit or join us for any of the nine related programs we hosted between December 9th and January 7th. Many thanks to the Smithsonian Institute, Humanities Nebraska, and our local supporters for helping to make this exhibit and its events an exciting opportunity for the Sarpy County Museum and the community.
Passed by Congress and signed into law in 1966, this year marks the 50th anniversary of the National Historic Preservation Act. The law paved the way for the National Register of Historic Places list. The Bellevue log cabin, Fontenelle Bank, and historic Presbyterian Church are all buildings on this list, accessible to the museum to tour. Throughout the year, we will highlight all the locations throughout Sarpy County that are on this special list. Stay tuned for some really neat history.
2016 will also feature a number of other exciting happenings including our monthly programs, quilt exhibit, annual fundraiser luncheon, and hopefully the completion of the train caboose restoration. For those that are museum members, thank you for your support. It allows us to do so much to complete our mission. If you are interested in becoming a member and supporting our mission, please stop by!I hope you are able to join us at anytime throughout the year to see all the positive efforts taking place in Sarpy County history.
See you at the museum,
Ben Justman
